Taking care of your hair during the monsoons or rainy season is very important. The increased humidity in the air, coupled with pollution and hectic lifestyles can lead to hair problems such as dandruff, frizz, hair fall, and itcy scalp. Read on for some easy to follow tips to help you take care of your hair during the rainy season:

  1. Keep your hair dry: Avoid getting your hair wet in the rain as much as possible. Try to avoid stepping out in the the rains. If you have to step out, always carry an umbrella or wear a hooded raincoat t to protect your hair from getting soaked. If your hair gets wet, make sure to dry it thoroughly as soon as you get indoors.

  2. Use a gentle shampoo: Choose a mild, sulphate-free shampoo to prevent your hair from becoming dry and brittle. Shampoo your hair regularly to get rid of dirt and pollutants that might accumulate due to the rain. A good ayurvedic shampoo with herbal ingredients is perfect for a good hair wash.

  3. Avoid chemical treatments to your hair: Try and use a good conditioning shampoo for every wash, focusing on the lengths and ends of your hair. Ingredients like methi are natural conditioners - check if your shampoo has such powerhouse herbs. Do not go in for expensive and chemical hair treatments.

  4. Avoid heat treatment: Try to avoid using heat styling tools like blow dryers, straighteners, and curling irons as they can make your hair more susceptible to damage during the humid weather. Embrace your natural hair texture or opt for hairstyles that do not require heat.

  5. Oil your hair: Regularly oiling your hair can help nourish and protect it from external damage. Choose oils that are based on ayurvedic priniciples and nourish your hair and scalp. Take a bit in your palm and massage your scalp with it at least once a week before shampooing.

  6. Tie your hair: Keep your hair tied up in a loose bun or braid to avoid it from coming in direct contact with rainwater. This will help minimize damage and tangles caused by rainwater. Also ensure that you trim your hair regularly.

  7. Stay hydrated and eat a balanced diet: Drinking plenty of water and consuming a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals will promote healthy hair growth and overall hair health.

By following these tips, you can protect your hair and maintain its health and beauty during the rainy season. So go ahead, enjoy the rains without the pains.
